Son of boxer, renown trainer and California Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, “Bumpy” Parra, Vince Parra had an impressive amateur record, compiling 44 fights and earning the San Diego Regional Championship honors in 1997, 1998 and 1999. He was also a two-time champion at the Mario Torres Invitational Tournament and second in the 165 lbs. division in that same tournament in Porto, Italy. Turning pro in 1999, Vince fought as a light middleweight in 11 fights over a five year span before retiring from the ring to focus on a career in training.

Sultan Ali started boxing in 1964 after he saw the close circuit Ali vs. Liston fight in a theater. After a brief amateur career, he helped coach his son who was beaten up at school at the Archie Moore gym in Chicago. As part of the Freedom Fighters, he marched with Dr. King and other high-profile civil rights leaders of that era. In 1968, after Dr. King was assassinated, Sultan Ali became a devout Muslim. In 2002, Mr. Ali moved to Dallas and joined Maple Avenue Boxing in 2010. His favorite fighter is Muhammed Ali and he had the pleasure of meeting him on many occasions throughout the years.
